However, before we begin let us understand both the terms – Photoshop & Clipping Path.

What is Adobe Photoshop?

Photoshop is known for many things. For instance, layers.

A layer in Photoshop is used like glass stacked upon each other to create the final project. It is widely used for image editing, retouching, creating image compositions, website mockups, and adding effects.

Photoshop allows you to manipulate the image and let you add a different filter, shadow, and attractive design. It is famous among photographers and graphic designers because of its quick and amazing result.

What is Clipping Path?

Clipping Path is a shape, or a closed vector path, which is made by using photo editing software like Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Illustrator. Using the Pen Tool in Photoshop, you can cut the object in a desirable shape after applying the clipping path. After that, you can manipulate the image background as per your own choice.

Above all, clipping path work is helpful when you have the same type of images and need to change the background.

How to Create a Clipping Path in Photoshop?

1. Launch Photoshop & Upload your Image

Firstly, launch Adobe Photoshop and from File menu select Open to upload the image you would like to edit.

You can select any image according to your preference. We have selected the picture of Kalibrado wallet for easy understanding.

2. Select Pen Tool from Main Toolbar

Once you have launched your image, go to Main Toolbar & Select Pen Tool.

Pen tool require a lot of practice to have an accurate result.

3. Start Drawing the Exact Shape of your Image

Next step is to start drawing the exact shape of your picture.

It may take some time depending on the complex edges of the object therefore you need to ensure that the path is done accurately.

4. Go to Layer Panel & Save Path

Post drawing a complete path around the object, go to the Layer Panel and select the Path Tab.

Select the Path Layer and click on the Three Lines Shaped Icon located at the top right corner of the panel, and choose Save Path.

After that enter the name for your path and then select Clipping Path from the same drop-down menu.

A new dialog box will appear with a variety of clipping path settings.

Make sure your path is selected, and then click Ok.

5. Save as Photoshop EPS from File Menu

Go to the main File menu, select Save As.

After that, choose Photoshop EPS as the File Type.

6. Click Twice on Add Layer Mask from Layer Panel

Go to Layer Panel and click twice on Add Layer Mask Icon.

This saves your selected path as a layer mask, and everything outside of the selection will be transparent.

Lastly, select Save As to save a new file.
